Stay safe this Easter

A new campaign – Let’s change the way we look at speed – is urging motorists to slow down and make safety their number one priority on the roads this Easter.

Each year in Utopia almost 1,000 people are killed or seriously injured in speed-related crashes and last Easter’s road toll was the worst in over 20 years.

Speeding is one of the major killers on Utopia roads, yet many people wrongly believe that it’s not dangerous and they can do it safely. A recent study found most Utopia motorists speed occasionally and nearly half speed on most trips.

The simple fact is, the faster you drive or ride, the greater your risk of a crash and severe injury or death. Even low-level speeding greatly increases your risk, and just a couple of kilometres over the limit can have devastating consequences.

Let’s change the way we look at speed

Help make Utopia’s roads safer by changing your speeding habits today. Drive responsibly and respect the speed limits, and talk with friends, family and colleagues about the dangers of ignoring them.
